Stock market will remain bullish in 2007, but with greater risks

www.chinanews.cn 2007-04-23 17:22:25

Chinanews, Beijng, Apr. 23 C The Chinese Academy of Social Sciences
recently issued a blue paper on the Chinese economy for the year of 2007.
In the report, titled "Prospects of Chinese EconomyReport for the
Spring Season in 2007", it predicts that Chinese stock market will
continue its robust performance this year. However, a fundamental change
will also take place in the stock market. Such change will manifest
itself in various aspects, including the rising range and prices of some
individual stocks. At the same time, the rising market will also brew
greater risks.
Chinese macroeconomic performance will continue to grow in a fast and
steady way, which will lay a good foundation for the stock market to
develop. In 2007, Chinese economy will maintain a steady growth of over
9% year on year. At the same time, China will further implement a series
of measures to change the growth mode and improve the economic structure.
Under the government's general policy of boosting consumption, people's
income will further increase and consumption will remain strong.
Corporate business revenue and profit growth rate will remain high, the
blue paper says.
At the same time, the abundant capital supply will also play a role in
pushing up the market. Although, on a previous occasion, the central bank
took some measures in order to tighten money supply, excessive liquidity
problem has not changed substantially. Moreover, Renminbi appreciation
trend will continue and as a result, it will help Chinese companies to
rise in value and make them more appealing to international investors.
In addition, the business performance of the listed companies will
continue to improve rapidly. Cyclical industry sectors, such as steel,
machinery, aviation, and automobile, will begin to turn profitable and
profits in finance and property sectors will increase dramatically. This
will help boost the stock market index to climb further. After China
applies the stock reform, the interests of major shareholders in a
company now coincide with investors' interests. More listed companies
will try to make their core business go public, which will also improve
the profit-making capabilities of the listed companies and upgrade their
business performance. All these changes brought by systematic improvement
will be manifested in the stock market this year.
