BEIJING, July 8 - China's top political advisor Jia Qinglin said on
Saturday the energy issue is a key, strategic issue for China, the
world's largest developing country.
Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political
Consultative Conference (CPPCC), made the remark at a lecturing held by
the CPPCC Standing Committee.
He noted that the Party and government have been attaching great
importance to energy issues, making energy-saving a basic national policy.
The country's 11th five-year plan sets clear targets in the fields of
population, resources and environment.
The CPPCC has special advantages in building an energy-efficient and
environment-friendly society, Jia said, calling on CPPCC members to
earnestly investigate and study energy issues and raise valuable
proposals and advices to the Party and government.
