China paves way as world leader in IPR

www.chinanews.cn 2005-04-05 11:20:10

Chinanews, April 4 - China has paved the way to becoming a giant of
intellectual property rights protection as the number of applications for
utility, new type, and exterior design patents and trade marks jumped to
No. 1 in the world.
From the beginning of the enforcement of the patent application process
in 1985 up to January 31, 2005, the total number of patent applications
has reached 2.319 million, 90% of which are domestically registered.
Intellectual property law in China has essentially reached parity with
international standards. In addition, a "double-tracked" intellectual
property rights protection system that involves judicial and
administrative forces from central and local governments has been laid
out.
