China's bank cards issuance ranks world No.2

By January 17, 2005, the number of bank cards issued by China reached 800
million, of which 10 million were credit cards. Although still in a
developmental stage, the future of China's bank card business is
promising, as it will maintain a rapid rate of growth in the next five
years. According to Dr. Lin Caiyi of the strategy and development office
at the China Bank Union, in terms of the number of cards issued globally,
America ranked No. 1 with 850 million, closed followed by China with 800
million.
